On March 2nd, Valor joined a sold out event at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. The Glitz Glam Give Event is the only Oscar sanctioned annual official event in Arizona. Each year the Oscars is recreated at one of Phoenix’s leading hotels complete with a red carpet arrival and gold painted figures. This year was no exception; Arizona’s elite gathered to celebrate the Oscars as well as raise funds for what is America’s most debilitating disease – Arthritis.
At present there is no cure for the disease that plagues almost 1.2 million people across our state, including thousands of children. The event raised over $250,000 that will be used for several programs including funding research initiatives, the SAK (Supporting Arthritis Kids) backpack program, and Juvenile Arthritis Family and Youth Camps.
For many youth these backpacks and camps are some of the only coping mechanisms available to them. The backpacks are equipped with special teddy bears that help those too young to express themselves verbally to demonstrate their pain. The camps are a chance for youth to interact with other youth facing the same challenges from arthritis. In this fun camp setting, they can experience the freedom that comes from being a kid, a kid without pain. The Arthritis foundation also funds a family camp where families can learn more about arthritis as well as interact with other families also facing the same issues. Valor’s donations and sponsorship will aid the Arthritis foundation in their quest for finding a cure.
