At Valor Global, we have a passion to make a difference. Once a month, a team of locally based employees donates their time and energy to a local philanthropy through our Care for Communities Initiative. The team, chosen on their own accord, is rallied by Communities Director and Dream Manager, Bernadette Thies. Bernadette makes it a point to coordinate and schedule the outings around shift schedules to give every employee the opportunity to give back. In addition to arranging each of the events, Bernadette always makes a point to volunteer with her team.

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) was founded in 1987 and is scattered across the United States. The non-profit is committed to feeding starving children globally in body and spirit. Through their efforts, child and adult volunteers pack meals specifically formulated for undernourished children. Once the meals are packed, FSMC shops the meals for distribution to partners around the world. As of 2017, 1.2 volunteer have packed more than 333 million meals.
To date, Valor Global has volunteered at Feed My Starving Children – Mesa two times. Bernadette chose to return to FMSC a second time due to their impact made at the first opportunity. “I was floored at what the team could accomplish in such a short period of time.”
At the first opportunity, volunteers packed 109 meal boxes containing 23,544 meals to feed 64 hungry children. At the second event, volunteers more than doubled their impact with 280 boxes packed, containing 60,480 meals to feed 165 children for one year.
Post event, volunteers left filled with joy and gratitude. Peggi Peaslee, Global Director of Talent was happy to volunteer her Friday night to those in need. “To do something for people in need makes me feel blessed beyond measure in both my personal and professional life.”
